Hello Everyone!Good Week here in Great Bend. My new son is Elder Campbell. He's a really good guy. This will be a good transfer, we had a really solid week. He is a very eager young man to say the least. Haha But it's good though, his "greenie fire" and excitement has pushed meto be better. He wants to learn and I like to teach, so it should work out quite well. But we saw a ton a miracles this week! Found some awesome new investigators! I have to tell the story of one of them. So like his first or second day out in the field we had like an hour until we had a set appointment. So I decided to use that time as a teaching opportunity and practice doing door approaches with Elder Campbell. I was telling him about how we should just begin teaching and testifying right off the bat at the doorstep and about how we should introduce ourselves and get their names before we start. I let him know he was going totake the lead on this next door. So we knock this door and this guy answers the door and Elder Campbell's brain just kinda goes blank about everything I just said I guess. But all he said is, "hi, can we come in." And in that moment I was thinking "Oh jeez, let's see howthis goes". But the man says, "Yeah, come on in." So that alone way caught me off guard but then we had a super powerful lesson about the restoration with him and his aunt, which are super normal, cool people. It was legit! Super humbling and testimony buildingexperience. But another thing is Landon came to church yesterday. Therefore, he'sbeen to church twice. Therefore, he is getting baptized THIS SATURDAY! So sick! He is so solid and will help out the Ward a ton. He'll definitely be a kingdom builder. I'm so grateful to have been a part of his conversion. But yeah, that's the jist of the week. Hola Amigos!Another glorious week here in Great Bend, Kansas. Well, we found out the transfer information today. On Wednesday I will be receiving another brand-new missionary straight from the MTC. This is my third transfer in a row training. And I've had a different one each time. I would like to do the whole training program for this next one. Why the Lord trusts me enough to take part in training all these new missionaries, I don't know for sure. But I know why I trust the Lord. I've seen the promise within Proverbs 3 truly been fulfilled at different times on my mission. It says: "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."Landon, who I talked about last week has been out of town which blows.But he gets back in town on Thursday, so I'm excited to continue his progression. Something kinda neat I've noticed even just in the past while since the tragedy happened is the Lord's hand in the Great Bend Ward. The last two Sunday's is the most full I've seen our chapel yet. I don't know if I've mentioned this before but the Great Bend Ward is pretty small. Well at least the Great Bend Ward Attendance is pretty small.Like most Sunday's you would think we were a branch. So there wasn't a ton of Priesthood to begin with. So the tragedy of two very active men really affected the Ward. But this event has really caused a lot of Less Active members to begin coming and having the desire to "Step Up"and the same desire has really been shown in the active members as well. I'm excited to help someone be baptized here in Great Bend with my new son. After a transfer of working really hard to get things going here.I love you all, I love my mission, and I LOVE the Lord. Hey Everybody! I am so sorry my letter was so short last week. This week should be a longer one. So it was a good week. Elder Melville is getting more and more out of his shell every week, so that's good.Training is super humbling. You recognize all your weaknesses when you are with a new missionary for some reason. I joke around with him a lot about how different we are. Haha But this week has been crazy. Like you guys won't even believe the things that happened since I last emailed. So on Tuesday we had like one of our best days in this area thus far. We had put two people on date to be baptized one of them being a referral we had received from Church Headquarters for this dude named Landon who is HECKA SOLID and we had found a few new investigators and we had a member come out on team ups with us and yeah it was just a super good day and when we came in for the night we were definitely on a spiritual high. But soon after we came in that night we received a phone call that I will never forget. We received news that Bishop Bates as well as the Young Men's President, Brother Langston had passed away that evening in a plane crash. We were absolutely shocked. So I guess Bishop Bates had to go out to a job site in Colorado and Brother Langston whose a pilot offered to fly Bishop out there in his little plane. And on their way the engine failed and the plane had crashed. They were both in their forties I believe, and they each have wives and several kids.Incredibly sad. I am going to two funerals today. I never thought I would have an experience like this on my mission.I don't know what else to say other than doctrine, because I love doctrine. The Plan of Salvation is real and I know it to be true. I know those Men of God are in the Spirit World ministering to those who have passed on. I know this. I also know that the wives of those Men know it too. They are remarkable examples of valiant and faithful women who have testimonies of the gospel, trust God, and trust and believe in the sealing power of the priesthood and the covenants they made in the temple with their husbands.This experience doesn't change the fact that there is a God. And it doesn't change that he's a Loving and Caring God. John the Baptist was fairly young when he was beheaded, and he had a family. Jesus Christ himself mourned the loss of his beloved friend. Things Happen. A lot of trials come our way simply because they are apart of this earthly experience. Not because God inflicted them upon us. Our Savior, Jesus Christ not only suffered for all of our sins but also for our pains,afflictions, and sorrows so he could assist and support us in times of hardship and distress. These families will receive much heavenly assistance from Christ and Ministering Angels.
I Love You All. I hope you all have a great week, and remember your ultimate purpose in life, because it truly is so short. And that is to"...prepare to meet God; yea, behold the day of this life is the day for men to perform their labors." Alma 34:32.

Hey Everyone!
Elder McGee here. I hope everyone had a great week. My week was pretty
good, we taught a lot of people. Michael and Amanda, the couple from
last week fell off the face of the earth, but that's ok. The guy who a
member brought to Priesthood Session last week kept his appointment
and we met up with him like two other times as well. His name is Jimmy
and he's a single dad and a really cool guy. I'm excited to continue
to work with him. This week we also tried to go visit a lot of less
active members of the church.
We really want to help someone be baptized this month. We are
inviting everyone we see to be baptized. Sharing the gospel is so
fulfilling. Don't have a ton of time today. But I'll send a pic or two
this week! Love you all! :)

Great Bend Week #3

Hello Loved Ones!
Another Marvelous Week! At times it was kind of a slower week to be
honest, but it definitely had some sick highlights! We had a zone
conference on Tuesday which was very spiritually uplifting and
edifying. Prez Bell is a spiritual giant who I look up to a lot and
want to be like. And then obviously General Conference was this
weekend which was hecka good! I wish more investigators would have
came. We literally did everything we possibly could have to get people
there but sometimes it just doesn't happen. Freakin agency...
At the priesthood session one member brought a nonmember friend and we
jumped on that opportunity. We gave him a Book of Mormon and got his
contact information and address. He was a cool guy and we have an
appointment this week to see him. We also met this awesome couple
named, Michael and Amanda this week who we set on date for October
24th. They are really cool and we are meeting up with them today. Good
things are happening here in Great Bend.
General Conference was a huge eye opener for a lot of things for me. I
received some mad personal revelation. I loved the talk that
referenced one of my favorite scriptures. It's found in Isaiah 64 and
talks about how we're the clay and God is the Potter.
The main message I got from Conference was this: Trust God. Really
trust him. That's something I need to do more of. As I've become a
more seasoned missionary I've started trusting in my own abilities and
capabilities more and more. But there is no way I could ever be
successful doing this work on my own, I need God. It's his work.
Doing the Lord's work makes me happy. And I love to be happy. And if
you think about it, God has to be the happiest being in the whole
universe. Wow. God is the happiest being in the universe and his WHOLE
WORK and his WHOLE GLORY is to bring to pass the immortality and
eternal life of man. I testify that happiness is another word for
selflessness. And you and I will find the most happiness from aligning
our will with the Fathers.
Well, that's my deep thought of the day...haha

Hello Everyone!Life is good being a servant of the Lord here in Kansas. This week wemade a lot of progress with building a teaching pool in this area. Istill would like to improve the member involvement in missionary workhere as far as team-ups and referrals. It's hard cause the wardmembers are so spread apart here. But they are so close knit at thesame time though which is cool. We had a really great Fast andTestimony meeting yesterday! I am super excited for General Conferencethis week, to have the opportunity to here a Prophet and TwelveApostles speak to us is such a huge blessing! I know their callingsare true and real. What an amazing missionary opportunity it is, aswell as personal opportunity, for some MAD personal revelation!A man named Charles, who we began teaching last Monday is hecka solidand on date for October 17th. He was definitely a miracle find, and heis progressing quite nicely. He is planning on watching one session onSaturday and one on Sunday. I'm really excited about teaching him, wejust need to get his girlfriend in on it too. Thankfully they don'tlive together though.But yeah, things are going good and will only get better! :)I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ and am so grateful for him pavingthe way for us all to receive Eternal Life! How great is our EternalPerspective!? We know what we are shooting for! The Celestial Kingdomof Glory with God and our family and friends. Great Bend!!

Hello Loved Ones,Good Week, I have been in Great Bend since Wednesday. Great Bendbrings back memories from my first area, Colby. Colby was a small townand so is Great Bend. It's way cool being here, and kind of refreshingtoo, because I've been in city for so long (like Topeka and Wichita).There is A LOT of work to be done here. But the people are hecka nicehere so I'm excited to just go way hard!The members here are very down to earth, which I like. It is a ward,but a pretty small one. The ward boundaries are huge. We cover notonly Great Bend, but multiple surrounding small towns. Which is howthe Colby Branch boundaries were.It is us, and one other set of elders in the ward. We are with theother set a good amount of time. I guess it's a joke here that thisarea is a quadpanionship. My comp, Elder Melville, doesn't know tomuch about the area still, so this should be fun. He cracks me up. Heis very shy and timid, but very optimistic! He's a good kid, he lovesStar Wars and Lord of the Rings and stuff like that. I have thefunniest video that I'll send with this.
